SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT RENEWS WDRA’S SPORTSMAN RACING PROGRAMS FOR 2024

Springfield, IL – The World Drag Racing Alliance announced today that Summit Racing Equipment has renewed their commitment to the WDRA and their sportsman racing programs for 2024.  The Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series (SSDRS) will again be the WDRA’s centerpiece of bracket racing programming at WDRA member tracks.  The 2024 WDRA Summit World Championships will be hosted by Montgomery International Dragway next season. 

“Summit Racing Equipment has a long history of supporting their drag racing customers and we are very excited that we have Summit’s continued support to continue our work bolstering our member track network and all the bracket racers that call those tracks home” said WDRA’s Skooter Peaco.

Year number two of the Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series will begin January 1, 2024 and the goal of the program is to find the best racers at each WDRA member track and gather them together in head-to-head competition at the Summit World Finals in October.

Canada’s Napa Auto Parts Raceway Becomes Newest WDRA Member Track

We are excited to welcome another new track and WDRA’s 6th Canadian track to the WDRA family. Thank you to Terry Antosko, the board of directors and the racers of North Peace Bracket Racing Association for voting to make WDRA the new sanction of Napa Auto Parts Raceway in Beaverlodge Alberta Canada.

We are excited to bring WDRA’s member track and racer benefit packages to another track in Western Canada and to have the NPBRA racers join the WDRA programs.

Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance Sponsors $5,000 Junior Dragster Race During WDRA Summit World Championships

Springfield, IL – The WDRA is happy to have Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance join the Alliance as a new partner.  The chemical company, which is known for its fuel fragrance and top lube additives, will sponsor the free $5,000 winner-take-all Junior Dragster race prior to the WDRA Summit World Championship presented by Suncoast Performance.

Talented drivers who qualify for the WDRA Summit World Championships presented by Suncoast Performance will have the opportunity to cash in early during separate free entry fee $5,000-to-win races. These lucrative gamblers races are available to Junior Dragster, Box, No-Box, and Sportsman racers thanks to the support from Wild Willy Fuel Fragrance, American Race Cars, Laris Motorsports and Renegade Race Fuels. 

In addition to the support of the Juniors, Wild Willy will also launch a national partnership program with all WDRA member tracks to become distributors and have the products available for sale to racers on site.   This is another national benefit to WDRA member tracks and it comes courtesy of WDRA track owner Greg Miller of Keystone Raceway Park who brought this program together for his fellow track operators.

LARIS MOTORSPORTS INSURANCE EXPANDS WDRA PARTNERSHIP FOR 2024   

Springfield, IL – The World Drag Racing Alliance announced today that Laris Motorsports Insurance has renewed their sportsman racer based programs for 2024 and will be expanding their commitment to the sport by creating an unprecedented national sponsorship package for each WDRA sanctioned track next season.  

Laris Motorsports Insurance will continue in their role as the Official Racing Equipment Insurance partner of WDRA, the presenting sponsor of the Summit Bracket Finals series of events, the primary sponsor of the MotorMania live stream program for the 2024 Summit World Championships as well as the Laris Motorsports Perfect Run program held during the Summit Bracket Finals.  The expanded program will now feature Laris Motorsports becoming a marketing partner at every WDRA sanctioned facility in 2024.

Jessica Hicks Spears Takes Over WDRA Communication Duties

Another racer joins the WDRA to help make the sport stronger.

WDRA is happy to welcome Jessica Hicks Spears to the family. Jessica will be handling WDRA’s rapidly growing media and communications duties as well as lending her talents to covering Summit Bracket Finals events as well as the Summit World Championship for both print and social media.

Jessica and her husband, Cody, are both avid bracket racers who both compete in the Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series at Greer Dragway where Jessica is currently fifth in the Footbrake points standings in her 4 door wagon.

Montgomery International Dragway Becomes New Home Of WDRA Summit World Championships in 2024.

Springfield, IL – The World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA) proudly announces that the track formerly known as Capital City Motorsports Park has not only changed its name to Montgomery International Dragway but effective immediately has become the newest addition to the WDRA member track family.  The 138 acre facility, which was originally built to national events specifications, has a three story tower with offices and media space, a set of VIP suites along with a 4,000 square foot workshop, concessions and merchandise facilities.  The facility will become the new home of the 2024 WDRA Summit Sportsman Drag Racing Series World Championships.

Recently purchased by bracket racer Brad Wheeler, the facility has already received an entirely new Accutime Timing System including having its own electrical circuit installed and new photocells and surge protectors put in.  Having a bulletproof timing system was priority number one for Brad as being a bracket racer himself he knows the system is the cornerstone of any great facility.

WDRA EXPANDS STAFF WITH INDUSTRY VETERAN FRANK KOHUTEK    

Springfield, IL – To keep up with the growth of the World Drag Racing Alliance, industry veteran Frank Kohutek has been added to the WDRA management team.  Frank will join current WDRA managers Jon O’Neal and Josh Peake and work with member facilities and racers in the Southern United States and Western Canada.  Frank will also lead the upcoming WDRA Southern Summit Bracket Finals at Gulfport and the South East Summit Bracket Finals at Darlington.

Kohutek brings 20 years of sanctioning body, track management and timing system experience to WDRA.  In addition to his vast experience working with tracks all over the South during his time as an  IHRA Division Director, Frank has built an impressive resume as a driver.  Highlights include winning the 1999 NHRA Super Comp national championship, winning two NHRA and two IHRA division championships in the same season plus a 2013 Indy Super Comp win.
